Plancius is a Dutch-flagged, completely rebuilt and converted, 116-passenger vessel which complies with the latest SOLAS regulations.  Although comfortable and nicely decorated, Plancius is by no means a luxury vessel.  She’s spacious and practical and you’ll find large open deck spaces (including full walk-around possibilities on deck 4) giving excellent opportunities to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.

M/V Plancius has 6 decks, 5 of which are open to guests.  Deck 6 features the bridge plus 5 superior cabins, while deck 5 features an additional 5 superior cabins and the huge observation / lecture room, bar & library featuring full panorama view.  You’ll find deck 4 totally devoted to cabins while deck 3 is where you’ll go for hearty meals after your outdoor adventures.   The remainder of the cabins are also found at this level.

Plancius is a hard-to-beat choice for itineraries to the Antarctic Peninsula, Polar Snorkeling & Diving trips in Antarctica as well as combination Faulklands/South Georgia/Antarctica voyages.

Mid-year, she takes lucky visitors to Spitsbergen, Greenland and Svalbard.

Expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic regions are primarily designed for experience & education, with shore as many shore visits as possible. Regarding Polar Diving, you’ll find Arctic diving expeditions around Spitsbergen where yo’ll access the water from zodiacs or the beaches.  You may have some fascinating wreck dives along with the popular diving with seals. Rich with krill, the Antarctic waters attract lots of marine life and you should have a good chance to get up close and personal with some the penguin population.

For Antarctica trips you will be embarking and disembarking in Ushuaia.

For the Spitsbergen – Northeast Greenland, Aurora borealis trips you will embark and disembark from Vlissingen or Longyearbyen. For the East Greenland – Scoresby Sund, Aurora Borealis trips embarkation and disembarkation are from Akureyri.
