TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE….

The MS Virgo is a fantastic expedition ship for unique adventures to the Arctic and Northern Norway. She has been completely refurbished in 2021 and offers new Scandinavian cozy and bright interior, as well as large wooden deck spaces outside. With only 12 guests on board, it will feel like you are on a private expedition!

The upper deck features two spacious Superior Suites and one Twin Cabin, while the lower deck offers another Twin Cabin and six comfortable Single Cabins, all of which have private bathrooms, a desk, storage space, and at least one porthole window. This ensures that guests have an unforgettable and enjoyable experience onboard.

One of the outstanding features of MS Virgo is the spacious lounge on deck 2, which offers direct access to the front deck. The large windows of the lounge provide great viewing opportunities, and there is plenty of space for photography and wildlife spotting, guests to relax and attend lectures, or simply enjoying a drink. The ship also offers a dining area where food is served at designated times, although the chef can adapt the menu to accommodate special dietary needs.

Overall, MS Virgo sounds like a warm and welcoming ship with a friendly crew that will make guests feel right at home. It’s an excellent choice for those looking for a more intimate and personalized Arctic or Northern Norway expedition experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Whale Watching – Photography – Snorkeling

MS Virgo offers a ‘one of a kind’ wildlife experience in the Norwegian fjords, up close encounters with orcas and whales chasing herrings … with ever changing winter scenery and the Northern Lights dancing in the sky!  The best time of the year for this spectacular wildlife phenomena is November through February when the balance between light and access to herring and whales is at its best.  This is a snorkeling / free-diving opportunity rather than a scuba diving trip, as scuba bubbles seem to be generally annoying to whales.  Divers as well as non-divers can experience the underwater world of the polar regions and guests can also enjoy close whale encounters from the zodiac and from the ship.

A (Waterproof D9) snorkel dry suit and snorkel equipment will be provided to all guests who choose to snorkel. Be prepared for cold but rewarding days out at sea with spectacular sightings of Mother Nature in all her guises.

ITINERARIES

Winter Whales of Norway

Two expert guides will accompany you on your whale watching adventures. For five full days you follow the schools of herring and pods of orcas and humpbacks in the protected surroundings of the beautiful Norwegian fjords. If you choose not to snorkel, the zodiac excursions are great whale watching opportunities for excellent photography!  Add on a husky dog sledge adventure or a snow mobile safari from Tromso before or after your cruise.
