BLUE HOLE SPECIAL
Photo Tour … Belize Aggressor IV
May 21 – 28, 2022 (SAVE UP TO 25%)
Belize diving probably offers the greatest marine variety of any Caribbean destination. From massive sponges to mangrove forests, from juvy fish to large pelagics, from seagrass beds to the intriguing Great Blue Hole … which, on this special expedition, you’ll have extra time to explore !
BELIZE
The luscious little country of Belize offers Caribbean dream beaches, dense jungle & rainforests harboring exotic jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, toucans & macaws, intriguing caves to explore … plus deep insights into Mayan culture. If you have the time, we highly recommend organizing both land and sea options.
But, top on the list for most of you is the marine world. Belize diving encompasses a wide system of reefs which, together, make up the second largest barrier reef in the world which remains largely untouched by tourism.
Enormous crimson gorgonians, large baffel sponges, giant deep water sea fans, long, lilac rope sponges, giant elephant ear sponges, yellow tube sponges and azure vase sponges, lettuce leaf coral and elkhorn coral and black coral trees all contribute to the incredible color of Belize’s waters. You can also expect big black groupers, horse-eyed jacks, angel fish, parrot fish, queen trigger fish, yellow tailed snappers, Creole wrasses … jawfish, blennies, scorpion fish, several varieties of …. eagle rays, stingrays and hawksbill or green sea turtles … and more.
WHAT MAKES THIS TRIP UNIQUE ?
A special itinerary allows extra time at the fascinating Blue Hole, an ancient, collapsed freshwater cave, made world famous in the 1960’s by Jacques Cousteau. You’ll have the opportunity for FOUR dives in the Blue Hole on this voyage, giving you time to explore its myriad of wonders.
The Great Blue Hole, located in Lighthouse Reef, is roughly circular, 300 meters wide and up to 125 meters deep. As a part of the Belize Barrier Reef, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hole provides access to an entire, immense cave system (never fully explored) and is filled with life and subterranean marvels. One gallery has stalactites up to eight meters long and almost two meters in diameter, a photographer’s dream.
Around the edge of the blue hole is a healthy reef which is home to an abundance of juvenile sea life, as well as larger fish and even sharks. These shallows are great for both diving or snorkeling.
