Why is this trip unique

An authentic, luxurious and wildlife walhalla for big animal lovers, there is no other way to describe this 8 day Central Africa wildlife safari, highlighted by the Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi.

Hikes on which you hear tens of different bird species, from swamps, to savannah and rainforest: the diversity in this preserved region is nothing less than spectacular.

Accommodations are located in the heart of the rainforests and habitats you will be exploring, with stunning views, moutwatering sunsets and top catering.

The trip combines one of the planet’s most mysterious and mesmerising juggernaut animals, with a regional biodiversity that is found nowhere else on the planet.

In the words of Marcel

“Gorillas share many similarities to us humans, yet their resilience and physical traits so different from us. That’s what you always hear and read, but to see it with your own eyes is very special. I loved that this trip had a bit of everything to offer: a jeep safari, luxury accommodation, bird watching and boat rides, and an unforgettable eye to eye with the mountain gorillas of Bwindi. Central Africa is incredibly “alive”. “

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe – Transfer to Entebbe Hotel

Day 2: Sanctuary hike – After your breakfast we drive westwards towards Fort Portal to the Kibale Forest National Park (about 5 hours), one of the great African rainforest research reserves. This forest is famed for the variety of primates found here and it is a terrific area for birds of all kind. In the afternoon we visit a nearby forest swamp that is excellent for viewing primates and other forest animals.

Day 3: Arrival at Kanyankye River in the Kibale National park for a chimpanzee trek. This park, an extension of the great rainforests of central Africa, is inhabited by three large communities of chimps, each numbering more than 100 individuals.

After your trekking, you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park for at least one night and have an experience with the cats in this Savanah.

Day 4: Breakfast and then drive to Queen Elizabeth. We do a game drive in the northern part of the park on the Kasenyi Track in search of lions, elephants, solitary buffaloes. This is the best time for opportunities of viewing the cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda Kobs. We have an excellent chance to view just about every animal here at very close range.

Later in the afternoon, we shall be heading out for a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. This gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo s huff and spray at a mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows.

Day 5: After breakfast we drive further south through stunning savannah grasslands as we head to the southern sector of the park – Ishasha, a remote and beautiful extension of Queen Elizabeth NP that is host to a large variety wildlife. This is a fabulous area in which to see the lions draped from the trees and nowhere in Africa do you stand a better chance of seeing this than in the large low limbed fig tree of Ishasha.

We then drive to Bwindi.

Day 6: Today is the day: the legendary mountain gorillas of Bwindi. First you’ll be briefed about the ecology of the mountain gorillas and their conservation status in Uganda. A piece of traditional music and dance presentation is another pre-gorilla trekking experience to look out for. The park officers shall then allocate you to the gorilla tracking group/ gorilla family you are to visit. From the park office, you will need to drive for about 20 minutes to reach most of the gorilla trek trailheads.

Day 7: After breakfast, you will go for the second gorilla trek but in another group returning in the afternoon. Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the lifestyle of the people living and surrounding the park.

Day 8: Departure flight to Entebbe, return home.
