Diving unter the Mountain

Tompotika Dive Lodge, located on the pristine shores of Sulawesi in Indonesia, offers divers an intimate, eco-friendly experience immersed in stunning natural surroundings.

This lodge is renowned for its dedication to conservation and preserving the unique biodiversity of the Tompotika region, where divers can explore vibrant coral reefs, encounter rare marine species, and enjoy uncrowded dive sites.The area is called Pulau Dua because of the 2 small islands that lay close to shore.

The dive center is integrated into the resort. Kayaks and bicycles are available free of charge to explore the surrounding beaches, the villages and the coconut plantations around.

The lodge itself has a laid-back vibe, with simple, comfortable accommodations and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot for those looking to dive during the day and enjoy quiet evenings by the water. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking to get away and enjoy the underwater world of Sulawesi.

The Tompotika Dive Lodge is settled on the East coast of Central Sulawesi, at the very tip of the Balantak Peninsula.The area is called Pulau Dua because of the 2 small islands that lay close to shore; Tompotika is the highest mountain of the area reaching 1450 meters. We chose to name our resort from this very old and inactive volcano, which is famous in the area for its magical properties.

It’s known for its close access to some of the best diving spots in the region, with vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life right off the coast. Divers can explore underwater ecosystems filled with turtles, colorful fish, and even bigger creatures like sharks and manta rays. The lodge is a great base for both beginner and experienced divers, offering easy access to multiple dive sites.

Muck and Pelagic Diving

The sandy slopes and fringing reefs are home to incredible muck dives, where you can spot small creatures that Sulawesi is known for, like frogfish, ghost pipefish, mimic octopuses, blue-ringed octopuses, and more. One of the best muck dive sites is the black sand slope right in front of the bungalows, which you can dive as often as you like, completely free of charge.

Other dive sites feature submerged ridges and rocks, offering a variety of fish and schools of trevallies, surgeonfish, barracudas, and even tuna. Reef sharks are often seen hunting, and if you’re lucky, you might spot eagle rays or manta rays swimming by.

The rich fish life in the area is a result of the water’s abundance in plankton, though this can sometimes affect visibility, which generally ranges from 10 to 15 meters, but can vary. Most dive sites are just a 10 to 15-minute boat ride from the resort, with the farthest being around 30 minutes away. Each boat carries up to four divers, along with their guides.
