Dewi Nusantara

The large & luxurious Dewi Nusantara is a three masted, wooden motor schooner, measuring an astounding 57 meters (188 feet) in length. She's as spectacular as a liveaboard gets.

A word from Dom : “The first second I stepped onto this stunning vessel I immediately felt at home. Luxurious? Yes. Pretentious? No. Not in the least. She’s graceful & elegant … and on the practical side, has abundant space & is a stable platform for your explorations of the remote regions of Indonesia. Beyond that, her crew, her food and her ambiance all get rave reviews from her guests. And, the diving …. well, it doesn’t get any better. She’s one of my all-time favorites in Indonesia.” Dominick Macan

Floating Boutique Resort

Dewi Nusantara is really a “floating boutique resort” featuring nothing but high-end amenities. Her owner’s dream was to recreate a majestic 3 masted schooner from the period of the mid-1800′s … a dream that became an enchanting reality. But, the atmosphere is easy and informal … so you can relax & unwind … but in style !

The upper deck has an extensive area in front of the bridge devoted to sunbathing & lounging, with multiple cushioned loungers & benches. This area can be covered or uncovered. The fore deck on main deck level, features the inviting, canopy-covered alfresco dining area while just inside is the spacious formal dining room and very classy lounge with all the requisite equipment. At the stern, is the huge 470 square foot “Master and Commander Suite “featuring a king size bed, separate sitting area with a sofa, and table with chairs that reminds guests of the “captains quarters” from the schooner design that inspired her. The remaining staterooms, all extra-sized, are located on the lower deck.

The main-deck dive deck gives divers tons of individual space and offers a rinse tank on the starboard side for camera and computer wash only, and a tank on the port side is used for general equipment wash down .Of course, there is a very serious dedication to accommodating underwater photographers & videographers. A large camera room offers multiple charging stations, camera benches and a workstation with data transfer and CD/DVD burning facilities. The lounge is equipped with a DVD player and TV for photo/video playback.

There is a “grazing” breakfast available from 6 am before the first dive. Breakfast is cooked to order and is served after the first morning dive. There is a buffet lunch and an elegant meal at dinner with waiter service. Additionally, fresh mid-morning and mid-fternoon snacks are served. Beverages (non-alcoholic and local beer) are complimentary while onboard.

Itineraries

Dewi Nusantara’s itineraries cover a large swathe of Indonesia : Raja Ampat, Misool, Cenderawasih, Triton Bay, Banda/Alor/Ambon.

Itineraries include the most popular regions of Indonesia. Trips to specific regions are, of course, based on the best time of year to experience the region’s finest diving.  Special adventure & special interest cruises can also be arranged for full charters.

Raja Ampat:
Indonesia’s shining underwater star, Raja Ampat has something of nearly everything a diver could want. You’ll dive channels, plateaus, walls & caves … and just plain mud, for the delight of “muck” diving. You’ll swim amongst great swirls of fish and feast your eyes on sponges & corals in scintillating colors. You’ll meet up close & personal, everything from pygmy seahorses to colossal manta rays.

Cenderawasih Bay:
The main draw here is the large community of whale sharks which stay year-round and feed off the fish tumbling from the villagers’ fishing platforms. You’ll also dive plunging vertical walls with prolific sponge life, see great schools of fish and may also have the opportunity to dive on Manokwari’s excellent WWII wrecks.

Misool:  Pure beauty awaits you here. This pristine area is a protected reserve. You’ll dive amongst splendid corals, experience drift dives & swim throughs, see large schools of pelagic fish and brightly colored reef fish. There are mantas, too … and plenty of fabulous critter action for macro photographers.

Banda Sea / Alor:   In Alor & the Banda Sea, you’ll find clear waters full of masses of fish & loads of invertebrates … plus alluring critters. As to topography, you’ll find shear drops, huge pinnacles, great walls … all covered with rich & thriving corals which attract diverse fish life. Add to that, visiting pelagics and you have a magical mix.

Ambon:  If you love crazy critters, Ambon is hard to beat. Get your lens ready for rhinopias, pegasus sea moths, countless varieties of frog fish, seahorse, flamboyant cuttlefish, ghost pipe fish and star gazers. Lesser known is the south side of Ambon, which features great colourful walls, caves, swim throughs and healthy reef life with large fish … and more critters.

Triton Bay: Divers love the whale sharks who visit the fishing platforms, but the true star of this region is a profusion of speculator soft corals gardens & the schooling fish – anthias, damsel fish, fusiliers, sweetlips & snappers. With lots of nutrients in the water, photographers beware : the viz is limited at many sites. But, you’ll love the massive black coral bushes, the drift and wall dives and the opportunities for critter hunting.
