Pacific Master

The Pacific Master (formerly Solomons PNG Master) is a 30-meter (98-foot) steel vessel with 12 cabins taking up to 20 guests. Mid-2022 she will move to Truk Lagoon & Bikini Atoll.

A word from Dom : ” A few changes in the Master Fleet which I think are good ones. The Pacific Master (formerly the Solomons PNG Master) will serve Truk & Bikini . She can accommodate more divers at Truk than the former Truk Master & is also ideal for Bikini, offering everything that serious divers desire in those destinations, including great underwater photo support, tech diving and plenty of good food to keep your engines running.” Dominick Macan

Solid, Strong & Spacious

The Pacific Master is a massive 4-deck liveaboard with plenty of space for your non-diving hours. The top sun deck is dedicated to relaxing in the sun, with lounge chairs ready & waiting … while just below, on the upper deck, you can enjoy a large covered seating area. The upper deck also houses 6 cabins, all with windows

On the main deck, you’ll find the super-sized interior, air-conditioned lounge/dining area which offers DVDs, large TV’s and a dedicated camera area for photographers. At the stern on this deck, is the dive deck which has freshwater showers & freshwater rinse bins for equipment. The two ladders which access the dive platform provide easy access to and from the water and most dives are done from here with a tender in the water for additional safety.

Located on the lower deck are six additional cabins, including four cabins for single divers.

For photographers, the boat has dedicated camera preparation areas with plenty of charging points and large rinse tanks as well as storage drawers and a large plasma screen to view and share your photos and videos with your dive buddies.

The chef offers local cuisine and recipes from an international menu. Special dietary needs will be catered to with advance notice and within the limitations of what’s available in this remote region.

Travel & Cruise Logistics

The Pacific Master embarks and disembarks at Chuuk International Airport (which is where your international flight will arrive).  Most flights to Chuuk International Airport (TKK) require transit via Hawaii or Guam.   Disembarkation at the end of the cruise will be just before 10 am. Passengers travelling within the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) are required to pay an airport departure tax for Chuuk,

Itineraries

You can choose a 7 or 10 night itinerary at Truk Lagoon.  The longer trips allow you time to experience more reef diving in addition to the wreck diving.  There are numerous channels that cut through the reefs which serve as hunting grounds for reef sharks and schooling pelagics which all add to the adventure.

On a typical day the boat offers up to 4 day dives, however the 4th day dive may be substituted for a night dive when the boat is anchored within the lagoon.  A 7-night itinerary provides for 18-20 dives; a 10-night itinerary, up to 30 dives.

Many of the wrecks are “Maru” or merchant vessels that had been left at anchor when the American attacks came.  A few had been fortified with anti-aircraft weapons and many carried important army supplies including Zero Fighter aircraft parts, tanks, torpedo shells, trucks and road supplies.  Bottles, cooking utensils, items from everyday life and personal artifacts can be found in several of the wrecks.

Fujikawa Maru – Immensely popular & easily accessible wreck, originally designed to carry both cargo & passengers, divers can penetrate the superstructure to see the remains of parts which were being transported …. tanks, propellers, wheels, artillery shells & torpedos. You can see also visit the engine room, staterooms, and galley. Good corals, lots of fish, great photo ops.

Emily Flying Boat – This huge fighting plane was armed with machine guns, canons and bombs. After being hit by the Americans, the plane managed to fly to Truk, although several important Japanese officers on board had been killed. The pilot crash landed and a few of the crew survived. The impressive wreck is amongst the most popular in Truk for photographers.

Nippo Maru – This is a wreck which nearly every wreck diver dreams of visiting. Another favorite for photographers, the helm & telegraphs make startling subjects. You’ll also find a load of weapons & artillery, mines, gas-masks, shoes and more in the holds … trucks & a tank … Howitzers & an anti-aircraft gun on the deck

Amagisan Maru – Another ship originally used for both passengers & cargo, the Amagisan Maru offers a big photographic gun on her bow & one at the stern, plus aircraft parts, trucks and a car the hold. There’s also a tanker truck just at her side.

San Francisco Maru – Pre-requiaition by the Japanese Navy, the San Francisco Maru carried passengers and cargo of minerals & coal. The haunting gun on the bow of the ship is one of Truk’s most photographed. The San Francisco also features several trucks & armored tanks, the usual artillery, torpedoes and bombs … along with airplane parts.

In addition to Truk, the Master offers a Bikini Atoll itinerary, these trips are limited to 11 divers.  See information about Bikini here …..
