The Diving

Diving takes place all around the island, and further out too: Big Fish Country is a regional delight dive spot. Known for its strong currents, this site is a thrilling spot for advanced divers, drawing in schools of barracuda, tuna, and even reef sharks.

The Channel is a natural channel at Maratua Atoll where nutrient-rich currents attract manta rays, eagle rays, and a diverse range of smaller reef fish.

Famous for its jellyfish lake, Kalaban Island is where you can snorkel with non-stinging jellyfish. Its outer reefs are excellent for wall dives, showcasing vibrant coral and large pelagic fish.

Hard and soft corals surround the island, ideal for spotting smaller critters like scorpionfish, moray eels, and the occasional octopus during one of the reef dives or a casual snorkel.

The best time to dive at Nabucco Island Resort is typically from March to October. During these months, the weather is drier, visibility is high, and sea conditions are generally calm, making it ideal for diving and spotting marine life. The peak of the manta ray season usually occurs between April and May, while currents around July to September bring in larger schools of pelagic fish, including barracuda and sharks.
