Simple Phinisi Charm

Shakti is a traditional Phinisi with a simple, old-school charm. You’ll find an ample sun deck which has both covered and uncovered areas where you can relax between dives. The interior salon / dining room has benches & tables for hanging out inside and offers audio-visual equipment. Shakti’s cabins provide for simple no-frills accommodation and she offers an excellent diving program for adventurous divers who are not luxury-oriented. With a maximum number of 10 divers, the dive-groups are never bigger than 5 and there are always 2 dive masters.

The 3 meals per day will consist of a mix of western and Indonesian cuisine in a buffet style. Fresh fruit and snacks are always available. The meals can be adjusted to a group’s preferences. You can speak to the chef on board regarding allergies.

Travel And Cruise Logistics

We will provide all travel details at time of booking and would be pleased to help you book your domestic flights in Indonesia. The Indonesian airline schedules change frequently and we advise clients that it’s better to avoid internet bookings as those bookings can be difficult to change. Also, please note, the boat’s scheduled departure time varies depending on current domestic airline schedules so they are not listed here. We’ll inform you at time of booking and will keep you posted on changes. The following airport will help you with general planning for your international flights.

Raja Ampat: International hub – Jakarta (CGK)

From Jakarta you will need to fly to Sorong for Raja Ampat itineraries. We like to recommend booking flights into Sorong one day in advance of the actual trip departure. This way it is guaranteed that you will be in Sorong in time to make the 9 am ferry that gets you directly to Waisai harbor from where the Shakti crew will pick you up in their tenders.

Outbound flights from Sorong must not be booked before noon of departure day.

Itineraries

The Shakti team can offer unique diving itineraries to spectacular dive sites. Generally speaking, the trips go either to northern or southern Raja Ampat, depending on the time of the year and the active winds during those periods.   The Dampier Strait is always accessible and so most trips will enjoy Kri Island, Batanta, Mansuar or Penemu amongst others. The rest of your itinerary depends largely on the North Monsoon (October to April) when the southern sites are ideal … and, then logically, the South Monsoon (April to October) when the northern Raja Ampat regions are more suitable.
