A word from Dom : “I’ve long been a fan of the lovely catamaran, Aquatiki II, as a splendid way to sail, relax and dive the Tuamotus with a small group, really making the most of French Polynesia’s enchantment. The owners are genuine experts in this region, their food is fantastic and they know where to take you for the best underwater experiences. This latest sweetheart, Aquatiki III, is newer, roomier, light, inviting & luxurious. If you’re thinking of French Polynesia, I’d definitely suggest that you think “catamaran” !” Dominick Macan

Explore From A Floating Boutique Hotel

The gorgeous new Aquatiki III is set to become the shining star of dive liveaboards in French Polynesia. New, sleek and sturdy, she’s spacious and offers traditional catamaran comforts. The covered sun deck at the top is roughly as wide as it is long and features skylights to ensure plenty of light illuminating this lovely salon area . For serious sun worshipers, you’ll have the trampolines on the main deck and a seating area located just behind the trampolines in front of the large interior salon & dining area. In the salon, you’ll find a video corner, library and cocktail bar.

At the stern end of this deck is more exterior living space as well as the dive set up. The 5 roomy cabins are all located on the lower level.

The meals consist mainly of fresh fish and rice as fresh fruits and vegetables in this region are very limited. The fish is often quick cooked on the plancha. Your hostess is a trained chef and will cook up succulent & inventive local recipes. Bread, brioches, pancakes, yogurts are all “home” prepared on board. Table water and lemonade are freely available throughout the day, however, drinks (sodas, mineral water, alcohol, …) are extra.

FAKARAVA / THE TUAMOTUS: The underwater life found in the channels is abundant and varied … and in the lagoons, in particular, you’ll find some glorious corals. You will encounter huge schools of sharks (large concentrations of gray sharks, but also white tips, black tips, sleepers, great hammerhead sharks and tigers. You will also see barracudas, eagle rays and manta rays, napoleon wrasse, as well as dolphins and a multitude of different schools of fish: big-eye snapper, goatfish, groupers, parrotfish, butterflyfish … and lots of moray eels & turtles … At certain times of the year, you can view passing humpback whales, melon-headed whales, whale sharks, giant groupers, schools of manta mobilae …

MARQUESAS: (private charter only)  As there are a handful of dive cruises per year in this region, so you’ll find yourselves virtually alone with magnificent mantas, some measuring up to 16 feet across. You’ll also see eagle rays, scalloped hammerheads, silky sharks, grey reef sharks, white tip & black tip reef sharks …. even the occasional tiger shark. In addition to the sharks, you find kingfish, tuna, napoleons, dolphins and swordfish. To top it off, not far from Nuku Hiva resides a colony of several hundred Pygmy killer whales and the rarely seen melonheaded whales.
