All the finest amenities

At the "tip-top" of the vessel, there is an expansive sundeck for those wishing to bask in the Socorro sunshine.  The upper deck offers incredible sea views from the sky bridge but also from the al-fresco dining area and open-air lounge. A luxurious master suite, which offers panoramic sea views of the surrounding islands, is also located on this deck.

The main deck indoor salon & bar provide places to chill out between dives. On this deck, you'll also find the indoor dining area, consisting of 5 tables and a buffet table where meals are served. There are two junior suites on the main deck offering either two twin beds each or one king size ... as well as en-suite bathrooms. The other 4 cabins are located on the bottom deck..

The aft deck offers functional dive prep stations, a camera table and deck head with outside sink.

Vortex offers all the onboard state of the art technology and amenities you would expect from a luxury liveaboard including top-of-the-range beds, linens, towels and bath robes, high speed internet & WIFI, a complimentary bar and even a helipad incase of need.  Gourmet dining is featured with a complimentary selection of the best Californian beer & wines.

Between dives enjoy panga rides along the shore line to observe the amazing colonies of Guadalupe Fur Seas and Elephant Seals.

Guadalupe white shark cage diving trips are from August through October. All Guadalupe diving trips are 4 nights/5 days with 3 full days of white shark cage diving.

The Revillagigedo Archipelago consist of 4 islands –Socorro, Roca Partida, Clarion and San Benedicto. They are wild, remote and unpredictable. For this reason Socorro diving is from November through June due to prevailing weather conditions. During these months, giant mantas, playful bottlenose dolphins and sharks are plentiful.  Socorro diving trips are from 8 to 10 nights.

Your cruise logistics

Guests are picked up on day one at 10 a.m. at the host hotel in San Diego close to the airport and escorted in an air-conditioned luxury coach to Ensenada, Mexico. It’s a beautiful, scenic drive down the coast once you get past all the Tijuana border traffic. This is about a 1 1/2-hour drive, departing Cruise port Marina at approximately 12 noon.

After boarding, it's an eighteen-hour crossing, putting guests at Guadalupe early morning of day 2.  Shark diving operations start immediately.  Day 2, 3 and 4 are spent cage diving with great whites. At the end of day 4, diving ends and Vortex starts her trip back to port arriving by noon on day 5. The luxury coach is waiting to drive guests back to San Diego that afternoon. However, because the border crossing at Tijuana can take time, we advise clients not to book any return flights until late that evening or the next day.

Socorro trips depart from Cabo San Lucas, Baja, California.  The international airport is San Jose del Cabo, Mexico (airport code SJD).  You will be met at a host hotel, transported to the dock and the boat departs at 4:00PM, arriving the next day at the first dive site around 4:00PM. You will have the opportunity to do 1 or 2 dives the first day and each day thereafter 3 - 4 dives per day are scheduled.

After the last full day of diving at the Socorro Islands, Vortex returns back to harbor at around 8:00PM or 9:00PM and guests will spend their last night on the boat in harbor.  After breakfast on the last day guests disembark the boat by no later than 9:00AM.  If flights depart in the morning or early afternoon, guests will go directly to the airport. If flights depart mid to late afternoon then guests can be transported to a host hotel,  The Bahia Hotel & Beach House welcome Vortex guests to relax and use their facilities free of charge, provided they purchase food and beverages during their time there.
