                   The Pelagian

THE BOAT
Simply luxurious. That’s the Pelagian.

She’s exceedingly spacious and elegant, tastefully decorated, and completely air-conditioned, of course.  On board this unique vessel, you’ll feel as if you’re vacationing in a spa resort rather than cruising on a dive liveaboard.

The Pelagian was built in Norway, designed to be an elegant world-ranging, comfortable and stable motor yacht. Over the years she has been rebuilt, upgraded and improved many times, most recently at the start of 2009.

You'll find 5 beautiful cabins (keeping the numbers of divers to a maximum of 10), loads of deck space, multiple lounges and dining spaces and tons of space for dive preparation, all your gear and your photography work.

The crew is highly experienced and very welcoming and the service impeccable.

Plus, we feel it's important to note that
Pelagian's cruising route, which includes exclusive access to the diving sites in the extended Wakatobi region
, is fully-integrated into Wakatobi's award-winning marine conservation and community development programs.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS
Pelagian has four cabin types: Standard Cabins, Deluxe Cabins, Superlux Cabins and the Master Suite

The Master Suite is incredible, with its queen-sized bed and individual lounge area with love seat and chair where you can watch videos, listen to music, read, or work on your laptop -- in total privacy. There is also a separate “beauty” room in the front of the cabin that can double as a work space.

The Superluxe Cabins (#3 and #5) are large cabins are filled with sunlight thanks to several portholes - each offering a walk-around, queen-size bed plus separate daybed, ample space and large bathrooms.

The Deluxe Cabin (#2) which has two beds - one large enough for two people, the other a single - is spacious enough to provide a comfortable area where you can sit to read or work on your laptop.

The Standard Cabin (#6) while less spacious by Pelagian standards, is still a lovely cabin with two single beds arranged opposite each other, one elevated with port holes by the waterline for nice views of the ocean!

An executive chef serves up a delicious mix of international and local dishes. Just about any special dietary need can be met with advance notice of requirements.

DIVING & ITINERARIES
The
Pelagian cruises through the rich waters of the islands of Tomia, Kaledupa, Binongko, Hoga, Wanci and Buton -- offer exciting and varied dive environments.

Whether you like towering pinnacles, steep walls, coral gardens, drift dives, caverns, or caves, the islands in the Wakatobi region offer them all.

Each itinerary during the year differs from the previous, based on season, weather conditions, currents, visibility and water temperatures - as well as being tailored to the experience and interests of the divers on board.

You can choose from a magnificent variety of underwater experiences - ranging from serious muck-diving with the finest of critters, to regions with powerful currents and sightings of
eagle rays, white tips, schooling giant tunas, barracudas and jacks, all in addition to the world-famous coral gardens of this remote archipelago.

At one site, you'll find a labyrinth of huge overhangs and caves covered on the ceilings with orange cup corals, hanging soft corals, colored fan corals.   At another,
fan corals, soft corals, lush bushes of halimeda algae and lots of crevices.

As you continue you'll encounter
moray eels, ghost pipefish, hermit crabs, sponge crabs, freckled frog fish, cuttlefish and occasionally the rare blue ring octopus . . .  plus mandarin, fish blue ribbon eels, pygmy sea horses, mantis shrimps and orang utan crabs
.

On some dives, as you drift along, you will see schooling fish such as big eye jacks, black and red snappers, tunas and some turtles . . . .  plus surgeon fish, barracudas, and oceanic triggerfish in a colorful mix with anthias and redtooth triggerfish.

If you know anything about this region, you know that this is just the tip of the iceberg.  The beauty and diversity of this region is unsurpassed and is a must on the wish-list of every serious diver.

You'll have 4 dives per day and will almost always be taken to your dive site on one of the easy-to- dive-from 18 foot rigid hull inflatable dive tenders.
