Walls & drift dives,
"muck" & "critters", macro & wide-angle.
Immense bio-diversity makes the future of this destination alluring for serious divers.

 A Note from Dom

The Philippines has been well-known for a long time, amongst intrepid divers, as a source of some of the planet's finest and most diverse diving.

Until recently, however, the infrastructure has been an issue.  While this was an incredible destination for backpackers and serious adventure divers, facilities were lacking for those who had 2 weeks of vacation and didn't want to spend their time "roughing it".

So, it gives me immense pleasure to be able to say that all of that has changed.  With the advent of World Wide Dive and Sail's gorgeous Philippine Siren and the establishment of the Atlantis resorts and liveaboard, the Philippines is now an accessible destination for everyone, backpackers and comfort seekers alike!

Don't hesitate to contact us for information.

Cheers, Dom

Overview

The Philippines is known to divers for hard and soft corals in a rainbow of colors, plus elegant fans and massive sponges; for marine diversity that equals that of Indonesia; and for magnificent walls and sheer drop-offs.  As a plus for wreck fans, the waters around Palawan are host to a variety of movingly beautiful World War II wreck sites.

But, topside too, the scenery is spectacular.  The lushness of the islands, the sweeping beaches, the plunging waterfalls and the contrasting hues of the seas all add to the ambiance of your visit.

Due to the variety of dive sites you’re likely to encounter everything from mantas & whale sharks to pygmy seahorses & that ever elusive blue-ringed octopus.

You’ll see schooling anthias and fusiliers in amazing numbers. You’ll find ghost pipefish galore, plus lion and scorpion fish, crabs and shrimps, razor fish, cushion stars, frogfish, leaf fish, Oriental sweetlips, batfish, mandarin fish and puffer fish.

In contrast, some dives will take you to deeper waters where you’ll have wide-angle shots of manta rays, nurse sharks, guitar sharks, and numerous other shark species, including the always intriguing hammerheads. You’ll encounter snappers, turtles, surgeon fish, schooling Trevallies and jacks.

And, that’s the tip of the iceberg.  Add all of that to the spectacularly colorful and massive coral gardens and you have a glimpse of diving in the Philippines.

Resorts and Liveaboards

While there are virtually countless resorts and many liveaboards to serve you in the Philippines, at Dive Advice our mission is to ensure you the best experience possible.

With that in mind, we have chosen to recommend, at this time, the two operations we consider the finest: the PADI Five Star
Atlantis Dive Resorts and their Atlantis Azores liveaboard - plus  Worldwide Dive and Sail's Philippine Siren.

Atlantis Dumaguete is located on the island of Negros and Atlantis Puerto Galera is located on the island of Mindoro.  Both resorts offer typical Asian warmth & hospitality, supported by the efficiency of western management.

Atlantis Azores and Philippine Siren follow similar routes, concentrating on central islands, including Palawan, Mindoro, Leyte and Visayan, in addition to numerous of the smaller islands in this region.

Philippine Siren

The SY Philippine Siren, is 40 meters and takes 16 guests in incredibly spacious surroundings.

8 large air-conditioned cabins- in the
Siren and Philippine Siren - with 4 cabins in the Mandarin Siren - each cabin with its own personal computer, audio-visual entertainment system and en-suite bathrooms with hot water.

All cabins can be twin or double and have extras including bathrobes, hair dryers, towels, individually controlled mood lighting and individual controls for your air-conditioning.

Each cabin is fitted with an individual computer and multiple power sources to facilitate the needs of digital photography. The computer features high-end specifications and 20” high-definition flat screen, which is integrated with the yacht's network server in the saloon Workstations for the preparation and maintenance of cameras including prep and storage areas.
